About This Property

Designed by local architect Charles Praeger, this Neoclassical Revival dwelling was built by rancher James A. McFaddin as a wedding gift to his daughter Emmie and her husband James Ferdinand McCan. He was an Irishman who came to Victoria in 1896 and he was an artist who was well known for his paintings and murals
for the King and Kleberg families at the King Ranch. McCan and his wife divorced in 1916 and she married Royston Nave, another prominent artist in South Texas.
