About This Property

This residence was built for James A. and Margaret McFaddin in 1890. McFaddin was one of the earliest successful cattlemen in the Gulf coast region. he introduced barbed wire and Brahma cattle to the area. McFaddin was a prominent figure in Victoria during the late nineteenth century. The house has continued to be owned by descendants of McFaddin. A major fire in 1930 did substantial damage to the house, and the towers and cupola were not replaced .
