About This Property

This is one of two public squares set aside in Ed Linn's original town plan of 1839, and the only one to retain its original function. The current configuration includes the 1885 Victorian bandstand (moved in 1923 to center of park), the early twentieth century plantings of J. D. Mitchell, the 1940 PWA project that provided grading, sidewalks, benches and two monuments.
