Built in the early 1900’s this building first housed a furniture store, which even sold coffins.  In the early years, there were a series of buildings that were all connected and a stairwell that could be accessed from the street.  There is record of Massie Sullivan "M" Store in 1925 that we believe was a grocery store.  T.J. Youngblood opened Youngblood's furniture at this location in the mid-1920s.  He later left the property to Elzy Youngblood and the business remained Youngbloods until the mid-1960s.  Douglas C Jeffrey Jr. purchased it for one of his many department stores called “Watkins” in the 1960s.  As downtown department stores started declining, he closed the businesses in 1990 and sold the building to his son, Douglas C Jeffrey III.  Doug III leased it to corporate rental businesses like Rent-a-Center and Colortyme.  In 2002, the next generation, Douglas C Jeffry IV, purchased it from his father and continued leasing it until 2016, when his wife Molly, opened up a vendor based boutique and small venue business.  The Refinery housed a variety of local makers until the doors closed in April 2023. 

Renovations that have been made to it are as follows:

• Carpet removed and wood floors restored
• 2 new HVAC systems installed
• Nest thermostats installed
