Historic name: Uvalde County Jail (built 1967)

About This Property

This structure replaces  a red-brick Victorian jail that was built  around 1900. The jailer and his family lived 
upstairs. It had a hanging tower that was  probably never used. The only legal hanging  took place behind the jail that was located  where city hall is today. The current building  was constructed after 1950 and has been 
replaced by a new jail on Hwy. 90 West.
