118 W North St 

Commercial  National Bank was designed by Will A.  Noonan and built by Weston & Kroeger  in 1918 with J. W. Hood as foreman. The  building was enriched with marble stairs  and wainscoting. The bank occupied the 
first floor and basement, while 6 offices,  each with its own lavatory, were rented  out on the second floor. The building  had steam heat and a vacuum system.  Sometime after its construction, the  alleyway to the left was enclosed with  matching red brick for Gordon’s Barber  Shop. It has for many years been the home  of Garner Abstract which was started in  1900 by John Nance Garner. In 1934 the  bank was merged with First State Bank of Uvalde. When the bank needed a vault,  they built it into the alleyway on the right  side. A roof and a front wall were added to  create the Plaza Barber Shop.
