About This Property

Built in 1957, this building  was constructed on the site of a couple of two  storied buildings that housed Commercial  National Bank, a drug store, and Billy Evan’s  jewelry store. Evans came to Uvalde at the  request of Rev. W. T. Sanders the pastor of  the Baptist church. Evans came from San  Marcos to play the organ for the Baptist  church and open a jewelry store. Later he  moved his store to the Zachry building.  Evans was best known for teaching music  to Uvalde children for generations. His  community band performed concerts at the 
bandstand on the plaza.
