About This Property

This building was built in  1921 on the site of the old Heard Saloon. The  downstairs was divided into three stores. The  section on the west was always a drug store,  first Seales Drug store and then Palace Drug 
for many years. The center section was at one  time Vosatko Jewelers. The eastern section  was a meat market, a dry cleaners and later  a restaurant. Upstairs were offices for doctors  and dentists including Dr. James Pogue, a  dentist, who had the first x-ray equipment  in town. He also had a portable chair and  instruments that he took to Batesville two days  per month and saw patients at the Hart Hotel.
