About This Property

Comprised of two distinct buildings. The one story Ritz Theatre was designed to bring in additional income by taking advantage of the store front for commercial use during the day. The theatre portion of the building was set back from the street with a narrow lobby. The second building was the first home of First State Bank of Uvalde. The bank shared the building with a plumbing business. When the building was sold in 1940 by John Nance Garner, the new owners raised the roof, creating a second floor, and dug a basement underneath. The building has been home to Goldberg Furniture and the Marvel Shop among others.
