Historic name: Fountain Plaza

About This Property

Despite the name, it appears there was never a fountain on this plaza. In 1915,  a post office, designed by Oscar Wenderoth  was constructed. It was a red brick  structure with arched windows and steps  leading up to the front door. In 1968 the  building was enlarged and modernized with  yellow brick and marble. The original roof  line can be seen behind the new façade.  The basement served as a bomb shelter  during the Cold War.
