Historic Name: Saenger Theater

About This Property

The Saenger Theater was the largest and most opulent of any of the numerous theaters built in Texarkana. Built in 1924 by the Saenger Amusement Company, based in New Orleans, LA. The theater was designed by Emil Weil, architect. The auditorium was one of the largest in the South, having a clear span of ninety feet between walls. There were 1,675 seats, 788 on the main floor and 887 in the balcony.
