The Grand Avenue side of this property held a small house in 1885. In 1892 the Sanborn Map depicts a huge home in the middle of the Grand Avenue side, labeled 422 Grand Avenue. This house, lived in by Daniel B. Chance in 1906, stayed on the lot until after 1908, when it must have burned down. 

Ed Jenkins and his brother in law began a marble works at 427 Bonham, to the back of the house, in about 1897. They came to Paris to work on the new courthouse. By 1902 their business complex stretched almost south to the back garage of the large Grand Avenue house. On the 1908 Sanborn Map the Marble Works has it current configuration, using the lot to the east on Bonham Street.

From 1914 on the marble works operated on both sites.
