About This Property

Following a fire in 1890, the current structure was constructed and dedicated in 1893 as Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mud clay was brought by wagons from the Trinity River, and 675,000 bricks were baked on-site for use in building the Victorian Gothic  style sanctuary. The interior features plastered walls with varnished oak and knotty pine millwork. The stained glass windows were imported from Italy and France.
