Records indicate the core for this multi-gabled house was built by Troy Hackler. Mr. Hackler was in the Confederate Army, Company E, Col. Gause’s Arkansas Infantry and was wounded at Ashely Station, Arkansas. After the war he moved to Texas. In the same year (1865) he married his wife, Annie Belcher Hackler. 

The Hacklers purchased large tracts of land in the Mansfield area and had their home build on it. In 1880, the Hacklers had the house moved to its present location. They lived there until their deaths in 1906 and 1913 respectively. The home remained in the Hackler family possession until 1964 when it was sold to Alice Watson. The house was used as rental property until 1985. In that year, Dr. Tony Mullins moved his dental practice from Arlington into the house. The house is being remodeled for office use.

The house is a registered Mansfield Historic Landmark.
