About This Property

This house is a Tudor Revival bungalow dated 1935, but may have been constructed earlier. The Tudor Revival style was one of the most popular architectural styles nationwide in the 1920s and 1930s.
 
The house belonged to Raymond D. Miller, nicknamed “Bulldog.” Mr. Miller served as Chief of the Mansfield Volunteer Fire Department from 1947 to 1957 and from 1959 to 1962. During his tenure, the Chief was responsible for acquiring new firefighting equipment for the department. Chief Miller operated a welding shop and used his skills to build a water tank to put on a 1951 Ford truck. 

While the house has been altered over the years, many of the features of the original home survive, including the steep pitched gable over the door and the chimney on the front of the house. Also unusal is the stone construction of the original house. 

This house is an officially recognized historic resource of the City of Mansfield.
