About This Property

The first owner of the building was Abner Pyles. The building was probably constructed after a fire in 1898, which destroyed several buildings on the west side of Water Street. 

The building was purchased in 1903 by Dr. William B. McKnight. It remained in the McKnight family until 1982. The first known occupant was L. A. Holt and Son’s grocery. It was originally one large grocery store but was later divided into three distinct storefronts. 

The building is a registered Mansfield Historic Landmark.
