This was the site of the Brown-Birdsong victorian home built in 1879 by early settler, Rev. B. W. Brown, Methodist lay minister, who as a member of the Texas Legislature helped to create Gregg County in 1873. It was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1965, but the house was moved in May 2011.
