Why Longview?

Over the past ten years, Longview's downtown has witnessed a period of revitalization. The City of Longview and the Downtown Longview Association are excited about this renewed energy and continued growth within our district! Recently rehabilitated office buildings are now apartments welcoming new residents to downtown.   Historic buildings, once hardware stores, banks, and warehouses, are now a craft brewery, a trendy coffee shop, a children's museum, restaurants, and boutiques. Of course, many of the buildings continue to provide office space for all types of businesses.

Longview was founded in the early 1870s when the Southern Pacific Railroad expanded its reach Westward. The city is known for its rich history in the oil and gas industry, and at the same time, Longview has long been the regional center for manufacturing, medical, and aviation innovation.  Longview residents enjoy a high quality of life, with great dining, plenty of shopping, live music events in Heritage Plaza, the annual Great Texas Balloon Race, a beautiful arboretum, and miles of multi-use trails and parks throughout the city.  With more development in the works, Downtown Longview is a great place to live, work, and play!
