The beautiful Texas Theater was built in 1950. It was the pinnacle of modern Kingsville. The theater was designed by prominent theater architect, Jack Corgan, and built with fire-proof materials. The doors were specially designed to open outward should an emergency occur, allowing easy exits for movie goers. Not only was there a very modern wide screen for showing movies, there was also a full stage so that plays or magic shows could be performed. Today the Texas Theater is undergoing renovation.
