About This Property

The Frisco Restaurant occupied this spot in 1913.  This 1922 building has been home to a number of delicious occupants.  Its first occupant was a dry goods store but by the 1930s Echols Red & White Grocery Store was in the building.  Rex O. Wright, later a county commissioner, bought the store and changed the name to Corner Grocery.  Personalized service was a hallmark of the Corner Grocery with home delivery.  After World War II the automobile congestion made the grocery business a bit difficult at this location.  Scanlon’s Shoe Store took over selling quality footwear for the whole family for thirty years.  Now the Cherry Tree Tearoom serves delicious lunch with a wide variety of confections.
