About This Property

In 1918 a dramatic fire swept through the Busy Bee restaurant in this location.  The fire consumed five businesses along the block.  A brick building replaced the charred restaurant called the White Kitchen Restaurant.  The elegant White Kitchen Restaurant became the place to eat in town.  It was decorated with white tile walls and lined with mirrors.  In the 1950s and 1960s this building was used by Durham Music Company selling Magnavox Electronics.
