About This Property

With the construction of the Flato Building in 1911 the Kingsville Lumber Company’s hardware division moved to the west side of the ground floor.  The ground floor was and still is divided into two stores.  The east side of the ground floor was occupied by a furniture store.  The second floor had business offices.  Charles Flato, Jr. decided to add an opera house to the upper floor of the building. It was a small theater complex which could seat up to 400 people.  There was even an elevator in the back of the building.  Restoration efforts are ongoing.  The beautiful pressed ceiling tiles are still visible.  After you study the beautiful old building be sure to study the excellent jewelry for sale at Blue Quail in #215.  The unit at #211 is vacant.
