Robert J. Kleberg Bank constructed this brick building in 1910 to replace the first bank building which was destroyed in a New Year’s Eve fire in 1909.  The new building cost $40,000 and opened for business in 1910.  At that time, the bank needed only a part of the building and rented other areas to a  pharmacy.  The Post Office shared the building for a while.  In the late 1940s the building had been enlarged and expanded so the Kleberg First National Bank took up the entire space.  In the 1960s the Kleberg Bank decided to build a larger facility across 6th street.  The beautiful building was sold to the City of Kingsville to be used as the Municipal Building.
