About This Property

The Easthams were one of the earliest families to operate a business on the courthouse square. W.A. Eastham  acquired this property in 1916 from the estate of Mrs. Delha Eastham, the  widow of Byrd Eastham.  W.A. Eastham retained the  property through 1931, when Mrs. Byrde E. Wooters acquired the  building. The building is an expression of commercial Art Deco design. Currently, it houses the oldest continually operated cafe in Texas, Cafe Texan.
