Forrest Lodge No.19, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, was chartered in January 1844, making it the eighth oldest lodge in Texas. Early members included General Sam Houston and noted state historian Henderson Yoakum. This building is probably the lodge's fourth meeting  place, and was built in 1908-09 on property acquired by the lodge in 1896.
