The old railroad depot has been repurposed and is currently the Grand Saline Public Library. Back in the day railroad tickets could be purchased here and passenger trains could be boarded for travel to many destinations.  There was a telegraph operator who would receive and send messages in Morse code.  When a message was received it would be decoded and printed and then delivered to the recipient's home by messenger.  The Grand Saline Civic Center is located in the freight room of the Depot.  Shipments of goods and supplies from all over the nation and even the world were unloaded into this room from the freight trains.  Mr. Marion Quinn was the freight depot manager and his father before him was the local Texas & Pacific Railroad (T & P) agent.  He received the shipments and delivered them all over town to the businesses or individual to whom the shipment was made.  The original scale may be viewed in the center of the shipping room.  

In the 1920's this historic train depot was moved by logs pulled by mules driven by men one block west. 

Fundraising was completed to purchase a caboose 

A federal sponsored sewing room was in a pre-existing building in location of the pavilion.
