This building was erected in 1900 per the Van Zandt County Appraisal District; however, it is unknown at time of this writing (2020) what the building initially served as.
Historical photos show this location as the Snow Hotel with Morton Salt Co. behind it. The Snow Hotel was operated by druggist William Lafayette (WL) Snow and his wife Helen until his death in 1942.  Inside the hotel were a drug store and a dining room on the lower floor. WL was born in Upshur County in 1866 and by the early 1900s had moved to Van Zandt. With his history as a dry good salesman, he opened his drug store and hotel.  WL Snow was known to have the first Model A Ford in Grand Saline. During the 1950's the upper story was used as a residence for senior citizens (Anderson Nursing Home). In the 1960's-1970's the lower floor was the offices of Howard and Uldene Hill's realty business and at present date 2024 great-grandson Justin Beckham owns and is renovating the building for his office. Part of the building housed the Grand Saline Sun, owned by Bert Fite for a few years. The unusual stone facade of this building which was not present in historical photos was added at some point and covered the 2nd story windows and the top portion of the first-floor windows.
