The Trax General Store & Mercantile opened on December 4, 2024. Originally there was a one-story building which held JE Thomas Grocery. Later, a 2-story building was erected, and Lawrence Grocery was on the lower floor of two.  The building burned and Mr. Gibson, the local railroad agent had the current building constructed as an investment.  The first movie theater in town was in the new building.  The Masonic Lodge met upstairs for many years using the outside stairs to reach the upper floor.  The downstairs was various retail stores including Bailey's Furniture and Appliance Store in the 1950's-1960's and The Emporium Ice Cream Shop in the 1970's. In mid-1970's Trailways Bus Station was in this building and the buses stopped on the south side of the building. Later, Lingg & Associates which sold toys occupied this space.
