Why Celina?

Welcome to Celina’s historic downtown square! Celina has been a Texas Main Street city for 20 years and continues to celebrate the history of its accomplishments while fostering future growth. While the City of Celina is one of the fastest growing cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, it retains the small town feel and friendliness that makes it unique and welcoming.

The City of Celina was established in 1876, but in 1902, the town’s main street was moved a few miles northeast to its current location in order to access the new railroad through town. The Historic Downtown District was created in 1992 to preserve, protect, and enhance the district and landmarks. A Neighborhood Empowerment Zone was created in 2017 to encourage quality development of downtown and its surrounding areas through incentives.

The Celina Main Street Program hosts a number of popular community events bringing people together in the heart of Celina – the historic downtown square.
