About This Property

W. E. West, a local attorney, and his son-in-law Thomas Dean Brown, formed a Ford dealership called Canton Motors in 1946. The dealership, at first, was located on the Southwest side of the square. The partners built the building at 208 W. Dallas and moved their ford dealership to that location. The grand opening at the new building was held Friday, July 19, 1946. Dean Brown served as the general manager of the business. Canton Motors was at the W. Dallas location for 28 years. Brown bought W. E. West's interest in teh early 1970s. In 1974, he moved the dealership to a march larger facility on I-20. Canton Motors was in operation for about 65 years.
