This building was constructed in connection with the Dixie Hotel that was bult in1915 and closed in 1954. The Dixie Hotel was owned by Mamie Maume. This building was used as a slaughter house to butcher meat for the Dixie Hotel, the most well-known hotel in Canton history. The old fixture to provide hot water to scald and de-hair hogs before butchering is still in the building. The exact date the structure was built was not determined. According to the Sanborn Map Company's map of the City of Canton, the slaughter facility was not on the 1925 map but it was on the 1941 map.
