Virgil McWilliams was mostly engage in farming. In 1918, J. P. Valentine and Roma Mathis built brick buildings on Tyler Street. There was space between the two buildings. Virgil McWilliams acquired the right to use the outside walls of the buildings and enclosed the space in between for another building. John R. Kells was the first occupant. Kellis was a local investor that dabbed in local enterprises. He built the Dixie Hotel, and in 1921, he built a brick building on the east side of the square. In this building he established a Dodge Automobile Dealership.
