This building is no longer in existence. It is mentioned here because several well-known businesses were located here. The building was the first brick buildig on the north side of the square. Daniel D. Thames, one of the original partners was a businessman in Canton from the early 1880's. He built the brick building in 1893 to house his business. Thames business failed and went into receivership about 1897. After several other owners, in 1910 the McCauley Brothers established a Grocery & General merchandise store at this location. In 1946, the Slaughter Bros. opened a White Auto Store in the building.
