217 W Buck St 

This alley was the location of the Matsonian Theatre. It is offered for sale with the corner building, 219 W. Buck, and the metal building at 202 S. Hill.

These two properties are two of the oldest structures in Caldwell and are a key opportunity for Historic Preservation and Economic Development. It is estimated that they were built in the early 1900s.

The Matsonian/Mustang Theatre was opened in 1930 wand was a converted from a Buick dealership by Mrs. C.W. Matson, who operated the Cities Isis Theatre. During the 1950's, it operated as an African American Theatre until it closed in 1957. At one time, it also acted as an open air market. Next door to the Theatre was once Harvey & Schiller Furniture & Undertaking, which was founded in 1928. In 2014, both buildings were purchased by long-time Caldwell residents, with the goal of re-constructing and bringing the properties back to life. The buildings were taken apart, brick-by-brick, in order to preserve as much as the original integrity as possible.
