About This Property

The Antioch Baptist Church was built in 1896 and has a very important cultural significance as the only remaining African-American  religious structure in the Downtown. Like many other cities in America there was a separate African-American business and residential district, within the larger downtown. The building show influence of the Gothic Revival. While it was slated for demolition, the church was saved and renovated in 2008 as loft apartments. Unfortunately the grand entry stair was removed earlier.
