About This Property

The First Security National Bank was designed in 1961 by the Beaumont firm of Pitts, Mebane & Phelps in association with D.E. Steinman. This radically contemporary structure uses an exterior concrete sunscreen made by local sculptor, Matchett Herring Coe. There are 361 individual panels on the facade, each weighing one ton. A Texas Historical Commission subject marker was placed in the ground floor entry lobby on November 7, 1966 noting its importance as the oldest bank between Houston and the Louisiana border.
