About This Property

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas was designed by the architectural partnership of White, Budd and Van Ness in 1985. The building facade's form and decorative ornamentation reference classical architecture which is typical of the Post-Modern movement in American architecture. While serving as a major cultural nodal point in Beaumont, it is regrettable that two blocks of historic buildings were razed for the construction. Nearby, a single remaining 12 foot granite column of the Perlstein Building (1907) serves as a reminder of the tremendous loss of building during this period.
