The interior of the 1890's Louis Eilers Building was destroyed in a fire in 1980. The brick building, with its castle parapet, has been known for decades as the Bastrop Meat Market. Over the years, the building has served as a butcher shop, hardware store, barbeque restaurant and a gift store. It is currently a restaurant. In 2008, the building received the President's Award for Best Renovation by the Texas Downtown Association.
