About This Property

In 1921, Dr. J. Gordon Bryson established the Bryson Sanitarium in Bastrop. A larger facility was needed so, in 1924, he and other city leaders raised funds to build a modern hospital. Mrs. Sarah Jane Orgain contributed $13,000 to the effort in memory of her son. In appreciation, the Board of Directors named the hospital the F.A. Orgain Memorial Hospital.
