Building History:

This site has been occupied since 1855, serving as the office of Dr. David Sayers, father of turn-of-the-century Texas Governor Joseph Sayers of Bastrop.  In 1905, W.J. Miley built this Commercial Victorian structure and opened a drug store within, complete with medical offices in the rear and a soda fountain, still in place in the front.  In the 1960s the drug store gave way to Belle's Emporium.  It was restored to use as a drug store in 1975 and remained in service--as Lock's Drug--until recently when the property was sold and renovated in period style.
