According to the city's tax records, this building was constructed in 1916. The Hollywood opened in 1934 and its facade has experienced a number of changes over time. Originally, it was a two-story terra-cotta clad building with a windowless second level. The lettering of the store name was the principal ornamental feature of the design. It also featured a metal and neon sign in the parking lot across the street.
