On May 2, 1964, Amarillo citizens voted to build the new Amarillo Civic Center (ACC). The old municipal auditorium was replaced with a new 2,400 seat theater and a 4,870-seat coliseum. The ACC opened its doors on August 31, 1968. The Amarillo Civic Center is a multi-purpose convention center.  It consists of multiple facilities including a 2,848-seat auditorium with 2,324 permanent seats used for concerts, Broadway shows and other events, The Cal Farley Coliseum, a 4,987-seat multi-purpose arena, 16,000-square-foot grand plaza, two exhibit halls and three meeting rooms.
